German Alphabet

In this post, we will learn German Alphabet and pronunciation. German also uses Roman Script as does English. In addition to the 26 letters of English Alphabet, German has 4 more characters (Ä, Ö, Ü, ß). The German letters are pronounced as shown below:

Short and Useful sentences.

In this post we will learn few short and useful everyday sentences in German. I have tried here to explain the meanings of these words. If you wish to learn more about these words, please click on the word.

Few words to greet someone like saying "Hi", "Hello" etc

Hallo : This word is similar to "Hello" in English. for greeting friends and known people

Guten Morgen means "Good Morning"
Guten Abend means "Good Evening"
Guten Tag means "Good Day"
Gute Nacht means "Good Night"


Few words to say Bye:

Auf Wiedersehen : This is used to say "Good Bye" to someone when u don't know when you will meet the person again. It means "See you again sometime". Its also a polite way to say good bye.

Tschüss: This word means "Bye". This is to say good bye to someone u know

Ciao : This word is used to say Hi or Bye. Its pronounced as "Chou". Its an Italian word.

Bis Bald : See you soon.
This word is used when you know that you will meet the person soon (say 1 or 2 days later).

Bis später : see u later
This is used when you know that you will meet that person sometime later on the same day.

Bis Morgen : See you tomorrow.
The word Morgen has two meanings "Morning" and "Tomorrow". Here its used as Tomorrow.

Bitte : Please
ex: can you give that key, please..(this please is called as Bitte)
Bitte has another meaing "You're welcome".

Danke : Thank you
